Salary: USD 157,500 - 220,000 / annual
ClassDojo is seeking an IT Lead to own and operate the company's entire IT function, reporting to the CTO. You will manage IT operations for approximately 350 employees, covering identity management, device fleet management, SaaS governance, security operations, vendor management, and AI platform administration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own identity and employee lifecycle management using Okta, Google Workspace, and an HRIS-driven pipeline with automated access provisioning and audit trails.
- Manage a Mac-first MDM fleet at near-100% coverage, implement passwordless authentication at 100%, and lead security incident response.
- Run end-to-end IT operations including onboarding, offboarding, support, and AI-assisted triage and self-service systems that handle most requests, treating repeat issues as defects to eliminate.
- Govern a 50+ tool SaaS stack, manage IT budget, and oversee vendor relationships.
- Administer Claude and ChatGPT accounts company-wide, use AI and automation to eliminate manual IT work.
- Maintain SOC 2 compliance with audit-ready controls and system-generated evidence.
The role is fully remote but requires significant overlap with Americas time zones and willingness to travel to San Francisco. You will inherit a well-documented, automation-first IT function and are expected to keep it efficient, improve it, and make it understandable to others.
Requirements:
- Owned and operated IT independently at 200+ staff, including Okta identity, Google Workspace, Slack, and an HRIS-driven lifecycle running unattended.
- Owned and managed a production Mac fleet under MDM, including migration or baseline rebuild experience.
- Administered ChatGPT and Claude (or comparable AI tools) for a company, use them daily, and built automations that replaced manual IT work with measurable results.
- Automate by default using scripts, APIs, logs, admin consoles, and can automate entire request categories.
- Practical security judgment with SOC 2 environment experience.
- Direct support experience with ability to quote support metrics.
- Write clear documentation and explain technical decisions to executives concisely.
- Ownership mindset; do not wait for perfect requirements or handoffs.
- Live in the US on East or West Coast.
Bonus experience: AWS IAM Identity Center and Terraform or other config-as-code for Okta/Google; office buildouts; BYOD policy rollouts; international contractor management; Windows and ChromeOS administration.
