Wallapop is a Barcelona-based marketplace scale-up operating across Spain, Italy, and Portugal, with hundreds of millions of products and services. The company is driven by a mission to make second-hand consumption the norm through technology and collaborative economy principles. You will join the iOS Platform team, which sets the technical direction for iOS engineering at Wallapop. Your users are primarily other engineers across the company, and your mission is to supercharge their productivity while defending app quality and performance. The team owns the build system, developer tooling, module architecture, testing infrastructure, and observability foundations that all feature teams depend on. The iOS codebase is 10+ years old, used by millions of people, with 115+ modules and over 20,000 Swift files. Every second shaved off build time multiplies across the entire engineering chapter. You will own app performance as a product metric—from launch time and responsiveness to memory footprint and app size. Key responsibilities include: keeping builds fast and hermetic as the codebase grows; building developer tooling that engineers enjoy using; maintaining a healthy, fast CI/CD pipeline from PR checks to App Store; defining and delivering user-facing performance goals (launch time, responsiveness, memory, crash-free rate); profiling with Instruments and optimizing at the binary level; owning the observability stack (Sentry/OpenTelemetry); setting module boundaries and leading large-scale architectural migrations; designing the transition from RxSwift to modern Swift Concurrency (async/await, actors); partnering with feature teams as an enabler; driving technical decisions through RFCs and prototypes; and mentoring iOS engineers across the company. Tech stack includes: Bazel-based build system with remote caching/execution and in-house Go CLI (Tente); Bitrise CI/CD pipelines with Quick/Nimble testing and Maestro E2E; RxSwift-based architecture with TCA inspiration, UIKit, SwiftUI, and Conchita design system; Sentry and OpenTelemetry for observability; and AI-assisted workflows including code-review bots.
