Town is an applied AI company building a persistent AI assistant that learns from users' work patterns, voice, and priorities to act autonomously across their tools (email, calendar, docs, Slack, CRM). The company recently raised $55M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz.
You'll be a founding iOS engineer owning the Town iOS app end-to-end. This is a small team where you'll drive architecture, performance, and polish to make the assistant feel native, fast, and trustworthy on Apple platforms. The goal is to move beyond typical "AI on iOS" (webview chat wrappers) to create an experience where users hand Town real work and it executes seamlessly—feeling like Apple shipped it themselves.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the iOS app architecture, performance optimization, and native feel across all details
- Build and ship mobile experiences that let users intuitively delegate work to Town and see results
- Raise the bar on reliability, latency, and responsiveness
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to ship ambitious features
Ideal candidates have:
- Production experience building high-quality iOS apps, ideally at scale or 0-1
- Deep Apple ecosystem knowledge (Xcode, SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift concurrency)
- Track record owning complex, business-critical iOS apps end-to-end with strong architectural judgment
- Obsession with performance, security, and UX polish
- Strong opinions on native app behavior and familiarity with Apple Human Interface Guidelines
- Bias toward speed, decisiveness at 70% information, and execution
Role is in-person in San Francisco's Financial District (near Montgomery BART), five days a week.
