Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonised energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of energy assets (vehicle charging, heating systems, home batteries) to shift energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green. The company is backed by leading investors including Energize Capital and Accel.
You will lead Axle's international expansion strategy, assessing future markets and business models from first principles. This is a full-stack operator role combining strategic thinking, regulatory deep-dives, and hands-on execution.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute high-level international expansion strategy, defining and assessing commercial value of new markets and business models
- Conduct in-depth analysis of policy and regulations to understand market access requirements
- Build zero-to-one business through partnerships with grid operators, utilities, retailers, and potential clients; validate hypotheses rapidly through stakeholder engagement
- Execute implementation as international business scales: scope and set up pilots, identify partners, build relationships, and get hands dirty with operational details
- Move markets at startup speed while operating in a complex, legacy industry
You will repeatedly deliver first-of-a-kind projects across multiple geographies, become a domain expert in energy markets, and work at the cutting edge of global electrification.
The company operates with a deliberately flat structure and equitable pay (1:1 median ratio between founder and team compensation). Hybrid working with 2-3 days per week in the dog-friendly Farringdon office. Enhanced parental leave and bi-annual team retreats.
REQUIREMENTS:
The posting emphasizes growth potential over domain-specific expertise. Ideal candidates have:
- Experience building things, developing new relationships, and delivering ambitious projects in complex environments
- Ability to process highly technical information and identify commercial value
- Demonstrated execution capability and resilience
- No specific years of experience or educational credentials stated as mandatory
