Fuse Energy is a well-funded energy startup ($200M+ raised from top-tier investors including Balderton, Accel, Lakestar, Creandum, and others) building an integrated energy company that develops solar, batteries, grid infrastructure, and distributed energy systems. The company combines first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to make energy abundant and affordable.
As Infrastructure Development Lead, you will be one of the first people building Fuse Energy's Australian project pipeline. This is a high-ownership, high-agency role with no playbook—you'll drive the acquisition and development of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Australia.
Key responsibilities include:
- Source and originate Ready-to-Build solar and BESS projects through developers, landowners, and industry networks
- Lead technical, grid, planning, and commercial due diligence on acquisition opportunities
- Drive transactions end-to-end, from initial conversation through negotiation and close
- Assess project risks across grid connection, permitting, land, and construction readiness
- Lead selective greenfield solar and BESS projects from site identification through Ready-to-Build stage
- Collaborate with the technical team to develop grid connection strategies with AEMO, DNSPs, and TNSPs
- Build strong relationships with developers, advisors, landowners, and stakeholders across the Australian market
- Ensure acquired and developed projects are deliverable, scalable, and ready for construction
The role offers competitive salary with equity eligibility, biannual bonuses, fully expensed tech, private health insurance, and meal allowances for office-based employees.
Requirements:
- Experience in utility-scale solar, BESS, or renewable energy development, acquisitions, or M&A
- Track record of originating, assessing, or closing renewable energy project transactions
- Strong understanding of Australian grid connection processes, including AEMO, DNSPs, and state approvals
- Solid technical and commercial understanding of solar PV and battery storage projects
- Exceptionally driven and high agency, with a history of making things happen without direction
- Comfortable operating at pace in an ambiguous, early-stage environment
- Strong network across Australian developers, landowners, and industry stakeholders (preferred)
