Anthropic is seeking an International Accounting Manager for the APAC region, based in Singapore. This is the first hire in the Singapore hub and a pivotal role building and implementing the accounting framework for Anthropic's APAC entities (Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, and India), with initial focus on Singapore, Japan, and Korea.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and implement compliance frameworks across APAC entities, ensuring alignment with local statutory requirements and global standards
- Establish and maintain monthly local financial statement review processes, including flux analysis and variance explanations
- Develop and implement international finance policies adapted for regional requirements, establishing local approval workflows
- Execute monthly consolidation processes and eliminations across international entities, including journal entries, intercompany eliminations, and reconciliations
- Manage intercompany transactions and develop frameworks for global scaling, including transfer pricing documentation and compliance
- Handle foreign exchange transactions and develop monthly processes for currency consolidation and risk management
- Perform comprehensive balance sheet account reconciliations
- Support local statutory audits of APAC entities, coordinating with external auditors and preparing audit schedules and documentation
- Support tax compliance framework development and implementation across international jurisdictions
- Partner with US-based teams to integrate international operations with global financial processes
- Drive continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence through technology and tools, with focus on finance transformation
The role reports to the APAC Accounting Lead and offers significant opportunity to build financial infrastructure from the ground up while partnering with global teams.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably in high-growth environments with multi-country APAC exposure
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience
- Professional accounting certification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and local statutory frameworks in at least one of Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, or India
- Proficiency in Workday, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems, with experience building and optimizing accounting workflows
- Experience with consolidations, eliminations, and intercompany accounting processes
- Strong problem-solving skills with curiosity and initiative
- Highly collaborative with ability to build relationships across time zones and cultures
- Effective communication and influence in globally distributed teams
- High ownership mentality with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities with exceptional attention to detail
Preferred qualifications include prior experience at high-growth technology companies in international operations, FX experience including hedging strategies, experience with complex group structures and multi-jurisdictional consolidations, comfort with ambiguity and building processes from scratch, experience across different time zones and cultural contexts, knowledge of AI/ML company dynamics, and passion for Anthropic's mission in safe and ethical AI.
