Anthropic is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to serve as a strategic communications partner to the Core Tech organization—the teams building and securing Claude's underlying systems, including engineering, infrastructure, and security. This is not a traditional support role focused on logistics and newsletters. Instead, you'll operate as a trusted advisor embedded deeply within leadership, earning a seat at the table, drafting communications on behalf of executives, and anticipating organizational needs before they arise.
Your core responsibilities include owning the internal communications strategy for your portfolio within Core Tech, becoming an expert in the team's technical work and a trusted member of its leadership. You'll serve as a hands-on advisor to executives, helping them think through messaging, drafting communications in their voice, and providing honest counsel—especially in challenging moments. A key part of the role is translating deeply technical work into narratives that resonate across all functions without losing substance.
You'll get creative about how you connect people to the work—moving beyond default slide decks to demos, experiments, and novel formats that land better. You'll anticipate communications needs around launches, incidents, organizational changes, and external attention, with plans ready to bring employees along. You'll design strategies to boost signal and reduce noise so employees understand what matters and why. You'll also plan and execute internal forums like all-hands meetings and AMAs with operational excellence, exercise sound judgment with sensitive security material, and partner closely with the broader internal communications team to ensure consistent cascading of updates.
You'll likely have 8–12 years of experience in communications or adjacent fields (journalism, speechwriting, chief of staff work, strategy and operations) where you learned to make complex, high-stakes material clear under pressure. You're an exceptional writer with a talent for distilling technical decisions and cross-functional projects into simple, compelling narratives, and you can write convincingly in someone else's voice. You've served as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, knowing when to push, listen, and deliver recommendations even when executives may not want to hear them.
You can embed credibly with engineers and security practitioners—you're curious about how technical systems work, ask good questions, and earn the trust of people who may be skeptical of communications by default. You see the big picture and connect individual team updates to company strategy and mission. You have a keen eye for organizational culture and can recognize authentic moments worth amplifying. Strong candidates may have experience communicating about security, infrastructure, or other deeply technical domains; have worked at AI companies or frontier tech organizations where technical work moves faster than most people can follow; or have built or run internal communications programs during periods of rapid organizational growth.
