Vercel is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to scale how the company communicates with employees, ensuring everyone understands what the company is building, why it matters, and how their work contributes to the mission. You will report to the Head of Communications and work closely with leadership across People, Finance, Legal, Design, and executive teams. The role is hybrid based in the San Francisco office with anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Key Responsibilities: Build the Operating System: Design and run internal communications processes and calendar, including All Hands meetings, leadership updates, and team-level cadences. Establish clear ownership and formats for each channel. Determine appropriate use of Slack, email, Notion, and video. Create and track internal comms metrics (reach, read rates, attendance, sentiment) with quarterly reporting. Land Major Company Moments: Co-lead major announcements and organizational changes, owning defined workstreams and flagging sensitive issues. Build internal plans for company milestones, determining what employees hear, when, and from whom. Write and edit content across internal channels including leadership updates, Slack posts, FAQs, explainers, and All Hands materials. Partner with Legal, People, and Finance on confidentiality guidelines. Incubate New Programs: Design and launch creative programs that educate and engage employees beyond standard cadence. Create structured opportunities for cross-department collaboration. Train employees to be company ambassadors. Use AI agents to surface opportunities and news employees might otherwise miss (open roles, speaking slots, product launches, customer wins). Measure impact and iterate. Keep Internal and External Comms Aligned: Participate in communications team approval processes to ensure internal messages meet the same standards as external ones. Ensure consistency in substance and timing between internal and external messaging. Partner with People on employer brand, onboarding, and culture programs. Use employee feedback to identify communication gaps. Requirements: - 5+ years of experience in internal communications, ideally with exposure to technical teams - Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and audience usefulness - Demonstrated ability to independently manage communications projects from planning through delivery, coordinating stakeholders and balancing competing deadlines - Curiosity about AI, research, and product development; comfort asking questions until topics are well understood - Ability to build strong working relationships, gather input, offer editorial guidance, and keep projects moving with busy partners - Sound judgment with sensitive information and ambiguity; knowing when to decide independently or seek guidance - Ability to create practical, repeatable processes that improve communications quality and consistency - Responsiveness to feedback and adaptability as priorities change Bonus: Interest in and proficiency with using AI agents in workflow.
