Anduril Industries, a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced technology, is seeking an Instructional Designer to join the Test & Evaluation Training team. You will create compelling visual and instructional content that supports training delivery and enhances learning experiences for diverse audiences including military personnel, engineers, operators, and maintainers.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with subject matter experts, engineers, product teams, and operators to identify training requirements and define learning outcomes. You will conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and align training programs with business objectives. Using instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE and Kirkpatrick models, you will design and develop curriculum frameworks, course outlines, and instructional materials that translate complex technical information into engaging, digestible learning experiences.
You will create content for blended learning formats including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, job aids, and hands-on practicals. Your work will incorporate adult learning theory and industry best practices to drive knowledge retention and performance outcomes. You will partner with content creators, trainers, and team members to ensure programs are effectively delivered and assessed, while maintaining version control and compliance with internal training systems.
Responsibilities also include refining learner-facing materials using tools like PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, and Figma; creating templates and visual standards for consistency; and traveling to test sites to observe, capture content, and validate that materials align with operational reality.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field, plus 3+ years of professional instructional design experience with a strong portfolio. You must demonstrate expertise in instructional design models and adult learning principles, proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.), and experience creating SCORM or xAPI-compliant content. Strong technical writing, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience in defense, aerospace, or highly regulated technical industries; knowledge of Learning Management Systems and Learning Experience Platforms; video editing or multimedia production experience; familiarity with U.S. military training programs; U.S. Person status for export-controlled information access; and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
