Commvault is seeking an Inside Sales Engineer to drive pre-sales engagement and support revenue growth across a defined territory. This technical sales role combines consultative selling with hands-on solution architecture, requiring a strong technical leader who understands how solution design influences customer outcomes.
You will partner with account teams to develop territory and account strategies, identifying and developing new business opportunities while engaging directly with senior IT leadership to understand technical, operational, and business challenges. Key responsibilities include developing and executing Technical Account Plans using Target Account Selling methodology, conducting pre-sales discovery, and translating findings into clear messaging aligned to business, technical, and financial value.
You'll collaborate on and present business cases to stakeholders including C-level executives and technical decision-makers, propose and deliver compelling virtual demonstrations (presentations, whiteboarding, pilots, proof-of-concepts), and actively participate in sales meetings and quarterly business reviews. Additional duties include providing technical enablement for channel and alliance partners, maintaining technical and market expertise through continuous learning and certifications, and providing feedback on product improvements.
The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience in software or storage industry pre-sales/sales engineering with a defined territory, supporting enterprise and commercial customers. You should have proven ability to conduct POCs and architect data management solutions (backup/recovery, data migration, replication, compliance), strong understanding of competitive landscape, and hands-on experience with major operating systems, hypervisors, or cloud platforms. Knowledge of enterprise applications (SAP, Oracle, Exchange, Kubernetes, Docker) and infrastructure technologies (storage, servers, cloud, DevOps, containers) is essential. Strong consultative selling skills, business case creation, TCO modeling, Salesforce proficiency, and familiarity with sales methodologies (MEDDIC, Command of the Message) are required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
