Writer is an enterprise generative AI platform trusted by leading companies like Mars, Marriott, Uber, and Vanguard to build and deploy AI agents grounded in their data. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the platform's availability, performance, and reliability 24/7, directly impacting hundreds of enterprise customers.
You'll work across the full infrastructure stack—SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Platform engineering—with deep focus on one substantial initiative at a time rather than constant context-switching. Your work will span AWS (preferred), GCP, and Azure, using Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and cloud-native tooling. You'll automate operational tasks with Python or Go, design scalable fault-tolerant systems, and treat manual on-call work as a defect to be engineered away.
A core part of this role is integrating AI agents (Claude Code, Droid, Codex, internal skills) into your daily workflow—using them to investigate incidents, draft infrastructure changes, write runbooks, and review PRs. You'll build agentic setups where humans and digital teammates work as one team, encoding recurring tasks as internal skills that compound team throughput.
You'll own end-to-end reliability and performance of Writer's core services, defining and upholding SLOs, carrying the on-call pager, and balancing this week's critical fixes with 6–12-month platform direction. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with product, security, and engineering teams, providing expert guidance on system design from conception through launch, and connecting infrastructure priorities to product and revenue context.
This is a hybrid role based in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, Chicago, or London, reporting to the Director of Engineering.
