Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical geospatial data via a cloud platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. We are seeking an Account Executive to drive new opportunities and expand existing relationships with state and local government agencies.
In this role, you will identify, qualify, negotiate, and close large-scale government contracts focused on civil applications. You'll work with state agencies in natural resources, agriculture, forestry, and emergency management to increase Planet's visibility and market penetration. Key responsibilities include generating pipeline through self-directed prospecting and collaboration with the SDR team, managing the government contracting process, developing account plans, and working with Sales Engineers and Professional Services to understand client needs and develop solutions.
You will also inform Planet's civil go-to-market strategy by providing guidance to product, marketing, and commercial leadership on expanding footprint in this market. Success requires maintaining accurate CRM data, forecasting, and collaborating with Customer Success Managers to ensure client satisfaction and repeatable business.
The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of experience selling to civil markets, with 5+ years specifically in Geospatial Earth Observation or similar industries. You should have deep expertise in commercial imagery value propositions, government procurement processes, and an existing network within the government and partner ecosystem. Strong discovery, deal-closing, and quota-carrying experience is essential, along with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and develop achievable sales plans.
