Salary: USD 150,000 - 180,000 / annual
Velo3D is seeking an HR Manager to lead and scale the company's human resources operations. The role is based in Fremont, CA (with ~30% travel to Livermore, CA) and reports to executive leadership.
You will own end-to-end HR strategy and operations, including workforce planning, employee lifecycle programs, and organizational initiatives. Key responsibilities span:
**HR Strategy & Operations:** Plan and execute HR policies, procedures, workforce planning, and employee lifecycle programs.
**Employee Relations & Performance:** Manage employee relations, investigations, performance management, coaching, mentoring, corrective action, and terminations. Partner with managers on succession planning and retention strategies.
**Talent & Workforce Management:** Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers on recruiting, workforce planning, organizational growth, onboarding, promotions, and employee development.
**Compensation & Benefits:** Develop and manage compensation plans, benefits programs, equity structures, job leveling frameworks, and related employee initiatives.
**HR Systems & Process Improvement:** Oversee HRIS/ATS platforms, data integrity, integrations, automation, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
**Compliance & Risk:** Ensure compliance with federal and California employment law (FLSA, FMLA/CFRA, ADA/FEHA, Cal/OSHA, wage-and-hour, meal/rest breaks, PAGA). Support export-control and ITAR-related onboarding. Maintain employee handbook, policies, required postings, and trainings. Manage leaves of absence and accommodation requests.
**Team & Leadership:** Lead and develop the HR/TA team while partnering with executive leadership on people-related matters and organizational initiatives.
**Employee Experience:** Support engagement, retention, culture, learning, training, development, and overall employee experience.
Velo3D manufactures metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) systems for production-quality titanium, inconel, and aluminum parts. The company is scaling and building HR infrastructure to support growth in a manufacturing/hardware environment with both hourly and salaried employees.
**Requirements:**
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years as an HR Manager or Senior HRBP
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience supporting manufacturing, hardware, or operations-heavy environments with hourly and salaried employees
- Experience scaling organizations and building or improving HR infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, recruiting, and employment compliance
- Proven leadership, communication, judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information
- Deep, current knowledge of California employment law and wage-and-hour rules
- Proficiency with HRIS and ATS platforms (Rippling, Lever, etc.)
- Clear, direct communicator who can influence senior leaders and build trust on the shop floor
- Ability to commute/travel to Livermore, CA approximately 30% of the time
- SHRM-SCP or HRBP Certification is a plus
