Homebase is seeking an HR Business Partner to serve as the dedicated People partner for the EPDD organization (Engineering, Product, Design, and Data). This is a hybrid role based in Toronto with required in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The role splits between strategic partnership (60%) and operational excellence (40%). On the strategic side, you'll be the embedded HRBP for EPDD managers and senior leaders, proactively building relationships and serving as a trusted advisor. You'll coach leaders through performance conversations, complex employment relations cases, and difficult people decisions. You'll partner on organizational health by using data to identify patterns, anticipate friction, and help leaders scale effectively. You'll support full performance management cycles—feedback, documentation, performance improvement plans, and exits—and be an accessible resource for employees navigating critical moments in their lifecycle.
Operationally, you'll be the team's subject matter expert on Canadian employment law and market practices. You'll identify, build, and deliver high-impact talent programs that solve real problems. You'll leverage AI to improve workflows, automating routine tasks and streamlining processes.
You bring 4–7 years of progressive HR experience with at least 1 year in a true HRBP role (not HR administration or systems work). Direct experience supporting engineering, product, design, or R&D teams is a major plus. You have strong advisory instincts, shaped decisions through pattern recognition and data insights, and have proven experience managing leave programs and immigration cases. You're genuinely fluent with AI—you've built or improved workflows with AI tools and measured impact. You have strong knowledge of Canadian and US employment law, HRIS experience (Rippling preferred), and are Toronto-based and energized by in-person collaboration.
