Wolt is a Helsinki-born technology company (founded 2014) that operates a local commerce platform across 40+ countries in partnership with DoorDash since 2022. The platform spans food delivery, retail, pharmacy, and emerging mobility technologies across Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
Israel is one of Wolt's most established and strategically important markets. As the business has expanded beyond food delivery into new categories and technologies, the regulatory and legislative environment has become increasingly complex. The platform economy in Israel is still evolving, making a senior public policy presence essential to continued growth.
You will take full ownership of Wolt's public policy function in Israel, reporting to the VP of International Public Policy (based in Helsinki) and working closely with the DoorDash International Public Policy team, cross-functional partners, and local business leadership.
Key responsibilities:
- Own Wolt Israel's public policy strategy: identify, map, and prioritize regulatory risks, legislative threats, and business opportunities; build and execute a plan to address them.
- Build and maintain senior relationships across Israeli government (ministries, regulators, Knesset members) to advance pro-growth legislation and counter harmful proposals, with particular focus on platform work policy.
- Engage constructively with key regulatory authorities as Wolt scales in this fast-growing, maturing market.
- Build relationships with mayors and municipal leadership to protect and strengthen Wolt's local operating environment.
- Identify and unlock new business opportunities requiring public policy engagement (e.g., expansion into regulated product categories).
- Support responsible introduction of new technologies relevant to Wolt's business as they become regulatory topics, including autonomous systems.
- Partner closely with Communications to align public policy positioning with public perception.
- Manage Wolt's external public policy and government relations agencies and other third-party advisors.
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the U.S. Embassy.
Requirements:
- 12+ years of public policy experience in the public sector, private sector, or both.
- Degree in law, public policy, political science, or related field; master's degree preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated network and credibility with senior Israeli government officials, regulators, and Knesset members.
- Direct experience with or strong understanding of labor and platform-economy policy issues.
- Experience navigating regulatory authorities.
- Ability to operate independently at a senior level—set strategy and represent the company externally, while also doing hands-on research and writing.
- Experience managing external agencies or consultants.
- Legal background or degree is an advantage (not required).
- Fluent Hebrew and strong professional English; ability to translate Israel-specific context for a global audience.
- Prior experience in global or matrixed corporate structures is an advantage.
- Comfortable working closely with Legal, Communications, and cross-functional teams.
