Socket.dev is hiring a Head of Product to define the company's product strategy and build out the product function as it scales. Socket helps developers and security teams ship faster by cutting security busywork—thousands of organizations use Socket to find, audit, and manage open source code. The company was founded by Feross Aboukhadijeh, a prolific open source maintainer, and has raised $125M+ in funding from top angels, operators, and security leaders.
In this role, you'll set product strategy across Socket's growing portfolio, bringing together disparate products into a cohesive platform. You'll work directly with the founder and leadership team to define what software supply chain security looks like as AI changes how software is built. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting product strategy by connecting customer needs, market opportunities, and technical strengths to focused priorities
- Getting close to customer problems through calls, support conversations, and understanding feature requests before solving them
- Partnering with Engineering to turn complex security challenges into intuitive, technically sound products
- Making prioritization decisions explicit, balancing customer commitments, support escalations, reliability, and new opportunities
- Owning outcomes through defining customer impact, validating assumptions, and measuring success
- Partnering with Sales on positioning, demos, and launches
- Building practical planning and communication processes for product work
- Growing the product function over time through hiring and team development
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll shape both strategy and execution, staying close to customers and helping the team move quickly without losing focus.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Senior product leadership experience with a track record of taking complex products from strategy through launch
- Experience building for developers, security teams, or other technical users, ideally in security, infrastructure, or B2B software
- Technical fluency to work through architecture and implementation trade-offs and earn engineer trust
- Strong product judgment to separate important problems from competing requests and make decisions with incomplete information
- Understanding of how customer value translates into business results and how technical products are evaluated and adopted
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Hands-on approach, comfortable building without established playbooks and moving quickly
- Preferred: Experience with software supply chain security, application security, vulnerability management, or developer tooling; experience building a product function at an early-stage company while continuing to ship
