Citizen is the #1 safety app in the United States, with millions of daily users and hundreds of thousands of paying subscribers. The company is being rebuilt as an AI-native organization, with engineering, operations, and finance already running with AI agents alongside humans. You will be the Head of Product for all of Citizen—the consumer app, subscription business, enterprise products, API, and partner integrations—reporting directly to the Founder and CEO. Your primary responsibility is product architecture: consolidating eight years of accumulated features into one coherent product with fewer concepts, clearer user paths, and faster shipping velocity. You will own the entire product surface: core retention loops (Day-1, Day-7, Day-30 retention and weekly active use), the subscription business (pricing, packaging, plan mix, trials, checkout), enterprise and API products (what ships to cities, hospitals, campuses, and private security), and metrics and forecasting (conversion, plan mix, retention, enterprise expansion). Critically, you will build and operate an agent team to handle the production work of product management—discovery synthesis, competitive analysis, spec drafting, experiment design and analysis, forecast updates, launch notes, and weekly reporting. By month three, agents should be drafting specs and building weekly reads; you decide, set the bar, and keep humans in the loop where judgment is required. This is not a separate workstream; it is how one person carries what a product organization of six to eight carried three years ago. Your first 90 days: Days 1–30, immerse yourself in the product, learn the funnel and subscription data, sit on the operations floor, and own the weekly revenue read and forecast. Days 31–60, present the product architecture to the founder, set the three-bet agenda (consumer, subscription, enterprise), ship your first pricing or paywall decision, and stand up the first end-to-end agent-run loops. Days 61–90, present the twelve-month product plan with numbers, show at least one test result that changed the plan, and demonstrate one agent-run loop that no longer requires human touch. Success is measured on: Day-1/7/30 retention and weekly active use; paid conversion, plan mix, ARPU, and subscriber retention; enterprise integrations live and time-to-onboarded; forecast accuracy month-over-month; tests shipped per month with clean reads and decision impact; and the share of product production work carried by agents you operate. You will work in New York City in the office every day. The role requires daily partnership with the founder on direction, the product designer on user experience, engineering leadership on shipping velocity, finance on the business model, sales on enterprise, and real-time operations on city needs. REQUIREMENTS: - Led product for a consumer product with millions of users and a real subscription business, personally owning pricing, conversion, or retention and demonstrating measurable impact - Think in whole systems; have taken a sprawled product and made it coherent (fewer concepts, clearer paths, faster shipping); can explain what you cut and why - Shipped to enterprise or B2B customers; understand that product is what ships, not what is promised; have sat with customers when execution fell short - Build with AI already; have replaced whole parts of your workflow with agents; have opinions on what tools can and cannot do; actively tracking what is next (not optional) - Quantitative: build models yourself, configure experiments yourself, read results yourself, know when a result is misleading - Have made something that did not exist before; prefer building new products to running roadmaps of others' ideas - Write clearly and fast; one-page memos ending in a number and recommendation are your native format - High agency: given a direction, return with a better one; decide, ship, build tools when they do not exist - Led without large teams by setting the bar with your own work and building systems for small groups to do what large ones used to - Care about the mission: safety matters to real people on their worst day; want the product in every country - Make confident decisions without complete information; take direct feedback from a founder with strong opinions; give it back - Want to be in New York in the office every day; the job does not work any other way
