Cape is America's privacy-first mobile carrier founded in 2022, building a secure network from the ground up with privacy and security features no other carrier offers. The company closed Series C funding in March 2026 and is scaling rapidly from ~100 to 300+ employees.
As Head of People, you will own the entire talent strategy and human engine driving Cape's growth. Reporting directly to founder and CEO John Doyle, you'll sit on the leadership team and shape company-level decisions. You will immediately take ownership of the People organization spanning Recruiting and HR, build out the team starting with hiring a Head of Recruiting, and design the department's roadmap to make Cape a top talent magnet.
Key responsibilities include: (1) Building a recruiting engine that attracts top talent through optimized capacity, tooling, business partnerships, and process efficiency; (2) Elevating employee experience to achieve above-industry retention, viral referrals, and continuous engagement through investments in total rewards, people systems, and career progression; (3) Planning and executing the transition from a team of 100 individual contributors to a scaled organization of 300+, including refining structure, formalizing career advancement, and retooling performance reviews and succession planning; (4) Professionalizing management approach to maintain culture at scale, including automating processes, establishing clear career paths, hiring top leaders, and formalizing management training.
You will stay close to the floor—sourcing key talent, staying plugged into employee sentiment, and keeping feedback loops tight across all levels. The role requires someone who naturally builds best-in-class programs and understands the nuances of scaling a technical, creative, relentless team through a critical inflection point.
Cape operates on a foundation of high trust and high expectations with a flat structure where collaboration matters more than hierarchy. The company offers top-tier healthcare, 401(k) matching, and a generous vacation policy.
