Salary: USD 570,000 - 610,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking an experienced leader to oversee global equity administration and payroll operations. This is a director-level role managing senior functional leaders across both equity and payroll, with responsibility for scaling these functions to public-company standards as the company prepares for and executes a public listing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing equity administration and payroll teams, setting strategy and operating cadence
- Owning the control environment for both functions, designing and documenting to public-company standards
- Driving systems strategy across compensation platforms (equity and payroll) and integrations
- Serving as primary escalation point and executive interface with Legal, Tax, HR, and external providers
- Overseeing international expansion, including new-country payroll setup, cross-border equity compliance, and mobility programs
- Partnering with Accounting on stock-based compensation and payroll accounting for clean financial close and audit
- Driving automation and continuous improvement of manual processes
- Building headcount and resourcing plans that scale with business growth
The role is hybrid, with expectation of at least 25% in-office time at San Francisco or Seattle locations, though some roles may require more office presence.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience across equity compensation and/or payroll operations, with significant experience leading senior functional leaders
- Demonstrated experience operating equity and payroll functions to public-company standard
- Deep familiarity with equity management platforms (Shareworks, E*TRADE) and Workday payroll, with experience owning cross-system architecture
- Experience building and scaling global operations across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong people leadership skills with ability to develop senior functional experts
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and default to building scalable processes
Preferred qualifications:
- CEP (Certified Equity Professional) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
- Experience with international mobility programs, worker secondments, and cross-border tax considerations
- Experience leading complex system implementations or migrations at scale
Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role.
