Wave is a fintech company building financial services for Africa, with a mission to make Africa the first cashless continent. The company operates mobile money services across 9 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, enabling cash deposits, withdrawals, peer-to-peer payments, and business payments with no account fees and instant availability.
You will serve as Head of Operations for Wave's Senegal operations, reporting directly to the Senegal General Manager and indirectly to the Head of Scaling Ops. This is a leadership role overseeing all core operational functions in the country.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily business operations in Senegal, identifying and resolving problems blocking growth
- Work with Wave's Executive Team to determine key objectives and operationalize strategies
- Provide direct management of key functional managers within the business
- Own key projects for Wave Senegal, developing strategy and executing implementation
- Lead by embodying Wave's values and ensuring they are deeply ingrained within the team
- Advocate for your team within the broader company
- Partner with the People Team to identify and hire local talent
- Contribute to Wave's global strategy by sharing insights and learnings from Senegal operations
You will oversee core operations including agent operations, agent liquidity, cash security, agent quality, and training. You will also lead innovation in agent network projects aimed at building a high-quality agent network with lower operating costs.
This is a permanent, in-office position based in Dakar with occasional travel to field locations. Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in mobile money, finance, fintech, telecoms, or technology sectors as a senior leader or executive managing cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration
- 8+ years of experience building and leading strong teams in achieving results
- Track record in managing stakeholders through strategic reporting for external partners
- Strong track record in building country-level and multi-country partnerships in Africa
- Work authorization in Senegal
- Fluency in English; ideally also fluent in a local language
