Mistral is building full-stack AI solutions—from frontier models to developer tools and applications—partnering with enterprises across finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector to co-create customized AI systems.
As Head of Financial Systems, you will lead the transformation of Mistral's finance technology ecosystem. This is a strategic role reporting to the CFO, tasked with building a modern, data-driven, and AI-enabled finance department that bridges finance, data, and business operations to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess Mistral's current finance technology landscape, identifying tools, processes, data flows, and pain points
- Define and prioritize business, functional, and technical requirements in collaboration with stakeholders across finance, HR, IT, Legal, and Security
- Design a target finance tech architecture, outlining system roles, integrations, data flows, and governance
- Develop a comprehensive data governance framework covering ownership, quality controls, and maintenance
- Lead data cleanup and rationalization efforts, ensuring finance datasets are migration-ready
- Deliver a clear recommendation on the future finance tech setup, including costs, risks, and a detailed transition roadmap
You will drive improvements in profitability, automate accounting processes, and ensure reliable financial outputs across a distributed, multicountry organization.
Ideal candidates bring:
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to define vision, strategy, and roadmaps, then execute flawlessly
- Engineering academic background (ideally from a tier-1 school) with deep data architecture knowledge
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing data architectures (APIs, workflows, BigQuery, DBT)
- GenAI proficiency and basic coding/automation skills
- Finance technology assessment experience and familiarity with tools like SAP S4H, Kyriba, Lago, Payflows
- Solid financial knowledge (FP&A, accounting, cash management, procurement) with a passion for process automation
- Proven track record building and scaling IT systems and teams from the ground up, ideally in finance
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use performance metrics to drive impact
