ether.fi is one of the largest DeFi protocols on Ethereum, with products including weETH (a liquid staking token securing billions in staked ETH), Liquid vaults (automated yield strategies across ETH, stablecoins, and BTC), and ether.fi Cash (a Visa card and neobank product). The company operates through regulated entities across Cayman, Brazil, the US, Canada, and the UAE, including a regulated investment manager and licensed VASP.
You will lead the finance function, reporting to the CFO/COO. Currently, finance sits with the CFO and financial controller; you will own all operational finance responsibilities while the CFO sets policy and provides sign-off. You'll manage a small team with one accountant reporting to you, with the ability to hire as the company grows. You'll work across multiple time zones and collaborate weekly with legal, compliance, operations, and product teams.
Key responsibilities include: running month-end close across all entities with management accounts within 15 business days and quarterly reporting within 45 days; balance sheet reconciliations (wallets, exchanges, custody balances); revenue recognition for protocol fees, vault fees, card interchange, and treasury income; leading statutory audits; owning annual budgets and monthly variance analysis with documented assumptions; cash forecasting; daily liquidity monitoring across fiat, stables, and crypto with weekly portfolio reviews and rebalancing; establishing intercompany agreements and transfer pricing models; managing tax and regulatory filings across Cayman, Brazil, US, Canada, and UAE; running weekly payment operations for vendors, payroll, and contractors across multiple countries; managing token vesting and payouts; card inventory and cost tracking; owning finance systems (QuickBooks, crypto sub-ledger, AP tools, payroll, cap table) and reducing manual reconciliations; and collaborating with compliance, ecosystem, and product teams on fee models and new launches.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualified accountant (CA, CPA, or ACCA)
- 8+ years post-qualification experience
- At least 4 years in-house at a crypto, fintech, or asset management business
- Proven experience running a finance function as controller or head of finance across multiple entities and currencies
- End-to-end audit ownership
- Hands-on experience with intercompany agreements and transfer pricing
- Comfortable with crypto (wallet reconciliations, token accounting, staking rewards, crypto fund NAV)
- Organized, direct communication style; flags problems early
- Able to work in Cayman (right to work or eligible for permit)
NICE TO HAVE:
- CIMA registration and Cayman funds experience
- VASP, payments, or card program experience including interchange
- US and Canadian tax expertise
- Multi-country payroll and token compensation experience
- QuickBooks Online, crypto sub-ledger, or AP automation experience
