Coder is hiring a Head of Field and Events to own the in-person strategy and execution of their marketing program. This is a player-coach role reporting to the CMO, responsible for setting and executing the field and events strategy as one of three pillars driving pipeline and revenue. Key responsibilities include: developing and executing field and events strategy tied to pipeline and revenue targets; selecting and managing third-party conference sponsorships and booth experiences; designing and running owned events (executive dinners, roadshows, user groups, hackathons, workshops); building regional field marketing programs with sales; owning events-sourced and events-influenced pipeline metrics and ROI; designing lead capture and follow-up motions; ensuring consistent messaging across all customer touchpoints; managing budgets, vendors, and logistics; and building and coaching a small field and events team as the program scales. In the first 90 days, you will audit current events, eliminate underperforming programs, and lock the calendar and budget for the next two quarters. By month six, you will have a repeatable playbook for third-party events and at least one proven owned event format generating pipeline. By month twelve, events should be a reliable, measurable pipeline engine with your first hire in place to scale. You will work closely with sales, demand generation, product marketing, and partnerships. Success requires owning a measurable number, being close to customers, and converting in-person interactions into revenue. Required: 7+ years in field marketing, events, or demand generation at B2B software or infrastructure companies selling to technical and enterprise buyers; proven track record of running events that sourced real pipeline with measurable results; ability to both build strategy and execute tactically (player-coach); strong project management and attention to detail; comfort with CRM, marketing automation, and pipeline/ROI metrics; trusted partnership with sales teams; willingness to travel frequently. Bonus: experience marketing to developers, platform teams, or security/infrastructure buyers; building a field or events function from scratch; experience in fast-moving startups.
