Postman, the world's leading API platform used by 45M+ developers and 500K organizations (98% of Fortune 500), is seeking a Head of Engineering for Infrastructure & SRE. You will lead a geographically distributed team of infrastructure and SRE engineers across the SF Bay Area, India, and Europe, owning the infrastructure that handles ~80,000 requests per second and the Site Reliability Engineering function at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
Team Leadership: Hire, manage, mentor, and develop a distributed team of infrastructure and SRE engineers. Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, and psychological safety across time zones. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and foster cross-regional collaboration.
Technical Leadership: Own the architecture and evolution of Postman's cloud-agnostic infrastructure (Kubernetes, Cluster API, Argo, Helm, Crossplane, Istio, AWS, Azure). Lead the SRE function end-to-end: SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, capacity planning, incident management, and reliability engineering practices. Set technical direction for infrastructure evolution to support hundreds of services and dozens of teams, enabling product teams to operate autonomously. Partner with platform, security, and product teams to align infrastructure decisions with company goals. Ensure best practices in GitOps, CI/CD, observability, on-call, and incident response.
Project Management: Own the infrastructure and reliability roadmap, balancing operational reliability with long-term architectural investments. Break down complex initiatives into actionable milestones and manage delivery. Proactively identify and resolve roadblocks.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with engineering, product, and security stakeholders. Foster transparent communication on system health, risk, and roadmap. Represent infrastructure and SRE in leadership forums, advocating for technical needs and communicating trade-offs.
You should have a proven track record of leading distributed engineering teams, deep expertise in cloud infrastructure and SRE practices, and thrive in fast-paced environments where your decisions have company-wide impact.
