Fireworks is a Series C AI infrastructure company ($4B valuation) building the fastest, most scalable LLM inference platform. The company is backed by top-tier investors including Benchmark, Sequoia, and Lightspeed, and was founded by veterans from Meta PyTorch and Google Vertex AI.
As Head of Developer Relations, you own the complete developer experience—from discovery through production adoption. You report to the SVP of Marketing and lead a team of developer advocates who become credible experts on frontier AI models and techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
**Community Building**: Cultivate developer communities across owned properties (docs, Discord, blog, newsletter) and unowned channels (GitHub, X, Reddit, Hacker News, YouTube). Success is measured by community growth, engagement, and Fireworks' share of developer conversations in the AI infrastructure category.
**In-Person Field Presence**: Own the strategy for hackathons, workshops, meetups, conference talks, and sponsorships. Build a repeatable playbook that generates qualified developer relationships and drives durable adoption, not just vanity metrics.
**Team Leadership**: Hire and develop developer advocates who combine technical curiosity with learning velocity. Build systems to keep the team current as the frontier shifts weekly, with clear ownership areas, content standards, and a culture of shipping and learning in public.
**Technical Content**: Own the content engine (tutorials, quickstarts, benchmarks, video, deep technical writing) that takes developers from first touch to production. Content must be both senior-engineer-credible and accessible to new developers.
**Developer Feedback Loop**: Be the voice of developers inside Fireworks. Channel friction, feature requests, and unmet needs to product and engineering with clarity and evidence.
**Measurement**: Instrument the developer journey from awareness through signup, first build, and active production usage. Report developer health metrics to leadership and connect DevRel activities to adoption outcomes.
You are a builder and operator equally comfortable shipping demos, speaking on conference stages, recruiting elite advocates, and reporting metrics. You think about developer relations like a great product leader thinks about product: understanding the user, their needs, adoption patterns, and how to measure impact. The role is remote-friendly within the US with periodic travel to San Mateo HQ and key industry events.
