Salary: USD 120,000 - 185,000 / annual

Probably Genetic is a healthtech platform that helps drug developers and patient advocacy groups develop and launch treatments for patients with severe, complex diseases. The platform discovers undiagnosed patients online, analyzes disease state using machine learning and at-home testing, and enables compliant patient communication. The company has raised funding from top-tier investors including Threshold, Khosla, and Y Combinator. As Head of Community Marketing, you will build and lead the community marketing strategy for patients, families, and caregivers in the rare disease population. You'll transform a scattered, often isolated population into an engaged community that becomes a growth engine for the company. Key responsibilities include: - Define and own the community marketing strategy across virtual channels (social media, online groups, content, email) and in-person channels (events, conferences, meetups, fundraisers) - Develop original campaign concepts to activate and grow patient and caregiver communities - Build and own relationships with patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and foundations across hundreds of rare diseases, strengthening existing partnerships and cultivating new ones - Test and iterate across tactics including referral outreach, email campaigns, PAG partnerships and sponsorships, events, participant compensation, and paid media - Track how community efforts influence key metrics including patient acquisition and customer acquisition cost (CAC), and adjust strategy accordingly - Build scalable, repeatable playbooks for community-driven growth - Represent Probably Genetic at conferences, fundraisers, and community events with regular travel expected You will work in a hybrid environment at the company's Downtown SF office near transit, with flexibility to work from anywhere up to 4 weeks per year. The team is mission-driven, focused on improving outcomes for patients with rare diseases. REQUIREMENTS: - 5-10 years of experience in community marketing or community-led growth at a consumer brand known for genuine community engagement (health/wellness, fitness, productivity, or lifestyle products with passionate user bases are a strong fit) - Track record of building or significantly growing a community with active participation, members creating content, referring others, and organizing around the brand themselves - Creative instincts for community activation from concept to execution - Fluency in both virtual and in-person community building - Comfort using data to guide decisions and identify what's driving growth, engagement, and CAC - Genuine empathy for engaging a sensitive, high-stakes population; ability to keep focus on the real people behind the community - Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to shape a brand's voice and adapt it to a high-trust context - Willingness to travel regularly for events and partner meetings - Patient-focused mindset motivated to have lasting, positive impact on humanity - Comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with rapid change - Action-oriented and excited to build a company from the ground up Note: Familiarity with the rare disease landscape or existing relationships within the rare disease community are not required but will be learned on the job.
