Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG and cardiopulmonary diagnostic platforms. As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will join the Device Team reporting to the VP of Device Systems, working alongside hardware, firmware, system, and software engineers to develop and verify EEG and Home Sleep Test systems that meet clinical, regulatory, and business requirements.
Your core responsibilities include designing and executing comprehensive hardware characterization and verification tests, developing firmware unit and integration tests, conducting system-level verification, performing root cause analysis on product issues, and maintaining detailed technical documentation to meet FDA, CE, and IEC 60601 regulatory standards. You will develop and maintain test plans, protocols, test scripts, and testing fixtures while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including design, research, manufacturing, and quality to shepherd products from concept through commercialization.
Key success metrics include executing device testing within Beacon's Quality Management System, implementing test automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency, troubleshooting and resolving hardware and firmware issues, and ensuring all products meet industry safety and regulatory requirements. You will work on embedded systems testing, including real-time operating system (RTOS) firmware, and contribute to both functional and regression testing across hardware and software components.
Required qualifications include a BS in engineering or related field with 5+ years of post-graduate professional engineering experience (or 3+ years with an MS degree). You must have strong technical writing skills, ability to read electrical schematics, hands-on experience with embedded software and RTOS platforms, proficiency in Python scripting, and familiarity with Git, JIRA, and GitHub. Experience troubleshooting electromechanical systems and knowledge of medical device design controls and regulations is preferred. The role is hybrid, requiring approximately 3 days per week in the Boston office.
