Checkout.com is a global fintech platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion shoppers. The company enables digital payments for major brands like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony.
You will lead the Intelligent Acceptance portfolio as Group Product Manager, reporting to the Senior Director of Product. This is a portfolio leadership role managing multiple Product Managers and shaping a suite of AI- and ML-powered products that optimize payment decisions across the lifecycle—from acceptance and routing to recovery and cost reduction.
Your immediate focus is improving merchant profitability by increasing acceptance rates and reducing payment costs while managing fraud risk. Longer term, you will enable merchants to set their own objectives and constraints, with products intelligently choosing optimal actions across the payment lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
**SET THE DIRECTION**
- Create and communicate a multi-year vision for merchant payment optimization
- Develop a unified portfolio strategy, roadmap and product principles
- Balance acceptance, payment cost and fraud risk at payment and merchant levels
- Identify next optimization opportunities based on merchant needs and measurable value
**PROVE AND GROW VALUE**
- Define metrics for incremental merchant value across the portfolio
- Build experimentation and causal measurement into product development and launches
- Own portfolio economics including investment cases, adoption strategy, and pricing input
- Partner with Commercial, Finance, Product Marketing and Customer Success to demonstrate value
**SHAPE PRODUCT AND DATA SCIENCE**
- Co-own the Data Science roadmap and outcome metrics with Data Science leadership
- Ensure Product identifies the right problems while Data Science owns methods and model quality
- Direct investment toward data and model capabilities with measurable merchant impact
- Set high standards for explainability, monitoring and safe rollout in high-volume payment environments
**LEAD THE TEAM**
- Lead, coach and develop Product Managers across the optimization suite
- Provide clear ownership, goals and decision rights while building shared purpose
- Create effective operating model with Engineering, Data Science, Analytics and Design
- Align teams and stakeholders around evidence-based priorities and trade-offs
Success in the first 12–18 months means uniting the portfolio behind one vision and metric framework, delivering measurable improvements in acceptance and payment cost with fraud guardrails, establishing a stronger joint operating model, building a path toward merchant-configurable optimization, and developing a high-performing Product Manager team.
The role is based in Amsterdam or London with hybrid working (three days per week in office). You will work across Product, Technology, Data and Commercial within the Payment Performance pillar.
**REQUIREMENTS**

- Deep experience in payment optimization with strong knowledge of acquiring, authorization performance, routing and payment economics
- Track record of setting strategy and delivering outcomes across multiple related products or teams
- Proven success leading and developing Product Managers
- Ability to bring clarity and structure to complex, ambiguous problem spaces
- Strong quantitative judgment with experience using experimentation, measurement and financial analysis for decision-making
- Credibility with Engineering and Data Science teams working on decisioning or optimization products
- Commercial judgment connecting technical capabilities to merchant value, adoption and sustainable business outcomes
- Clear, persuasive communication with merchants, teams and senior executives
Valuable but not required:
- Experience building ML-driven decisioning, routing or personalization products at scale
- Knowledge of fraud scoring, risk controls and trade-offs between fraud exposure and payment performance
- Experience with causal inference, multi-armed bandits or adaptive optimization approaches
- Familiarity with card-network economics, interchange, scheme fees, retries and stored-credential payments
- Experience shaping packaging, pricing or value-based commercial models for technical products
