TRM Labs is seeking a Global Investigator to join its Investigations team, conducting complex blockchain analysis and financial crime investigations for public and private sector partners. In this role, you will investigate cases involving phishing, blockchain exploits, hacks, terrorism finance, account takeovers, scams, money laundering, ransomware, and other illicit blockchain activity. You'll produce detailed investigative reports, deliver briefings to senior stakeholders, and conduct long-term research on emerging on-chain crime typologies.
Key responsibilities include: conducting ad hoc investigations and time-sensitive blockchain analysis; producing insightful written reports and client briefings; researching key categories of on-chain crime and converting findings into actionable intelligence; supporting sensitive investigations for public and private sector clients; and proactively identifying and managing relationships with industry partners to expand attribution sources.
You should have 3-5+ years of experience as an investigator or analyst in the private or public sector, with practical experience in virtual currencies and blockchain analysis. Experience with stablecoin seizures is preferred. You must be comfortable structuring ambiguous problems, prioritizing critical issues, and briefing senior stakeholders. The role requires comfort using AI tools to accelerate research while maintaining ownership of investigative judgment.
The Global Investigations team operates across global timezones with standard business hours in respective regions. Team members coordinate across zones for seamless handoffs on time-sensitive investigations. The role includes participation in a formal on-call rotation providing 24/7 coverage for high-priority events (hacks, law enforcement support, etc.), occurring weekly with potential weekend responses for unique events.
