onX is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to build and evolve the technology powering onX Hunt, a platform helping outdoor enthusiasts plan and navigate hunting seasons. You'll work across the full stack—mobile applications, APIs, backend services, and data systems—with a focus on services and APIs that connect hunters throughout their journey.
In this role, you'll own technical solutions from design through delivery, making architectural decisions around performance, scalability, reliability, and security. You'll build and support large-scale distributed systems, diagnose complex technical issues, and continuously improve the systems you own. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, QA, and engineers across teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality customer experiences while navigating cross-team dependencies.
You'll write maintainable, well-tested code using unit, integration, and acceptance testing to ensure reliability and performance. You'll review code, share technical knowledge, and mentor other engineers. The role also involves exploring how AI can be embedded as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows, integrating experimentation thoughtfully with sound judgment and validation.
Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience); 5+ years professional software development with 3+ years focused on API development; experience building and debugging distributed, scalable microservices architectures; strong foundation in modern API and systems design; experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL); experience with Go, Elixir, or other functional programming languages; iOS or Android development experience; strong ownership mindset and mentoring ability; curiosity about new technologies including AI; permanent US work authorization.
