Cognition AI, maker of Devin (the first AI software engineer), is hiring a Founding GTM Recruiter to build the international talent function in Tokyo. You will own end-to-end recruiting for Go-To-Market roles across Japan and Singapore, partnering closely with GTM leadership to establish high-quality talent pipelines in a new market.
Your core responsibilities include: building deep talent maps across enterprise software, AI, developer tools, cloud, and infrastructure sectors; defining role requirements and interview processes with hiring managers; sourcing and closing exceptional passive candidates; representing Cognition's story with credibility and energy; driving candidates through a high-bar hiring process; and using data to advise leadership on pipeline quality, compensation signals, and hiring risks.
You will act as a talent advisor and strategic partner, not an order-taker. The role requires operating with urgency and precision in an ambiguous, fast-moving 0-to-1 environment while continuously improving recruiting systems and processes.
Ideal candidates have proven experience recruiting GTM talent for high-growth tech companies, strong understanding of enterprise software, SaaS, AI, infrastructure, and developer tools markets, and experience hiring across Japan and broader Asia-Pacific regions. You must be fluent in both Japanese and English, with excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to calibrate and advise senior leaders. Strong sourcing discipline, ability to identify and engage passive candidates, and a track record of hiring bar-raising commercial talent in competitive markets are essential. A builder mindset, high agency, high ownership, and strong attention to detail are required.
Standout candidates have helped build early GTM teams in new international markets, recruited for frontier AI or developer tools companies, understand both commercial and technical-adjacent GTM hiring, and have experience partnering with regional GMs or founding country leaders. You should be comfortable moving between strategic talent mapping and hands-on execution, prioritizing quality over speed, and closing candidates with multiple options.
