Macroscope is building infrastructure for next-generation software development, where engineers direct fleets of AI agents, every change is automatically reviewed and verified, and organizations have clear visibility into how their products and codebases are evolving. The company is founded by serial entrepreneurs and former product/engineering executives at public tech companies, backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Thrive Capital, Google Ventures, and Adverb. As the founding Business Development Representative, you will build the top of the enterprise sales funnel from scratch. Your buyer is a CTO, VP of Engineering, or founder who still reviews code diffs—someone who deletes a dozen generic AI dev tool emails daily. Success here requires identifying specific, genuine reasons why particular engineering organizations should care about Macroscope right now, not volume-based outreach. Key responsibilities: - Own top-of-funnel pipeline generation for the enterprise motion. Research target accounts, identify compelling reasons to reach out, and execute multi-channel outreach across email, LinkedIn, phone, developer communities, and events. Success is measured by conversion to real conversations, not touches. - Define target account strategy rather than inherit a list. Use GitHub signals, engineering hiring patterns, funding events, and field intelligence to identify which organizations are ready for Macroscope and which would waste time. - Qualify inbound leads from the product-led growth motion. Quickly distinguish between individual engineers exploring the product and 200-person organizations ready to buy, then hand off to Account Executives with clear context and next steps. - Own messaging and experimentation. Write copy, run tests, and honestly report which product claims resonate with engineering leaders and which don't. - Share market insights and field learnings to refine sales strategy, messaging, and playbooks. Work directly with the engineering team to convey customer insights that improve the product. You will work directly with founders and Account Executives, and the outbound motion you build will be the one the company scales. REQUIREMENTS: - 1–3 years in outbound, sales development, or customer-facing roles at B2B software companies, or an unusually convincing case for why you'll excel without it - History of exceeding targets or a track record of being unusually good at something difficult outside of sales - Strong technical aptitude. You don't need to have shipped production code, but you should understand pull requests, why code review is a bottleneck, and the impact of coding agents - Exceptional written communication. Short, specific, non-generic writing is core to this role - Entrepreneurial drive and success in fast-moving startup environments, especially those focused on AI and developer tools - Comfort building a playbook from scratch, including learning from early versions that don't work - Extremely high agency and self-motivation in a flat organizational structure - Willingness to work extremely hard in a high-risk, early-stage startup environment - Owner mentality with immense care and craft in your work - Genuine passion for the mission and product
