LiveKit is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers building real-time communication and voice AI applications on the LiveKit platform. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and customer implementation, requiring you to partner closely with customers' engineering teams to design systems, prototype solutions, and solve complex technical challenges as they move from experimentation to production.
You'll design scalable architectures for voice AI, real-time media, and developer platform use cases. Your responsibilities include building prototype integrations, reference implementations, and sample applications to accelerate customer development; helping customers navigate SDKs, APIs, infrastructure, and deployment strategies; debugging and troubleshooting complex technical issues in production environments; and leading technical workshops and architecture sessions with developers and product teams.
You'll translate customer needs into technical insights that inform product and platform development, partner with Product and Engineering to improve developer experience and tooling, and contribute code or improvements to LiveKit's open-source ecosystem. This role requires fluency in both Spanish and English to support customer engineering teams across Spanish-speaking markets.
You should have 7+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience, proficiency in languages like Go, Python, Node, Rust, or C++, and comfort working across APIs, SDKs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure. Experience with WebRTC, real-time media systems, voice AI, or customer-facing engineering roles is a plus. You'll thrive if you're obsessed with helping developers succeed, known for solving tricky technical issues, able to move fast without sacrificing quality, and a fast learner who picks up new tools and systems quickly.
