Salary: USD 113,000 - 155,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join the Mission Autonomy team in Costa Mesa. This role is part of the Technical Operations group, responsible for deploying and supporting Anduril's advanced defense technology systems globally.
You will be deployed to field locations worldwide to support military defense projects, executing technical operations, conducting field maintenance, and providing customer support and training. Your responsibilities include end-to-end support for Mission Autonomy systems, including hardware setup, software configuration, and troubleshooting complex issues at the intersection of hardware, software, and networking in unstructured field environments.
Key responsibilities include: supporting military defense projects with field technical operations and customer training; providing comprehensive support for Mission Autonomy systems including hardware setup and software configuration; troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and networking issues in real-time; managing low-voltage and high-voltage electrical components; administering Linux systems and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker); conducting incident response root-cause analyses for defense systems; and communicating field issue status to internal and customer teams.
You will serve as both a technical expert and educator, coaching teammates on systems you've mastered while continuously learning new platforms. You'll guide users through product deployment and troubleshooting, advise account managers on operational structure, and provide specific recommendations for product refinement to engineering teams.
Required qualifications: 3+ years of strong problem-solving in unstructured environments at the interface of hardware, software, and networking; Linux system administration experience; proficiency with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker); hands-on technical hardware assembly, repair, and maintenance skills; ability to travel to remote regions for up to two months at a time (up to 75% annually); ability to relocate to Costa Mesa; ability to meet health and medical requirements per DFARS and DoD regulations; and eligibility to obtain and maintain U.S. Top Secret/Secret clearance.
Preferred qualifications include B.S. in computer science, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related technical field; working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and Linux command line interfaces; cross-functional collaboration skills; and prior military or overseas contracting experience.
