Baselayer is rebuilding the identity and trust infrastructure layer for American financial institutions. The company has built the most complete business graph in America, fusing public records, IRS data, sanctions lists, web signals, and fraud telemetry from 2,200+ financial institutions to resolve any business and its human stakeholders in milliseconds. Trusted by over 20% of US financial institutions including FIS, Rho, and Socure, Baselayer's graph is becoming core infrastructure for gig platforms, marketplaces, AI companies, and commerce infrastructure.
The Agentic Economy team is extending Baselayer's business graph into the trust layer for agentic commerce—a new category being defined right now. This small, senior team works directly with payment networks, banks, wallet providers, and agent platforms to build verifiable credentials, registries, and verification APIs that enable AI agents to transact with trust.
As Forward Deployed Engineer, you are the engineering arm of this team. You turn partner conversations into working software, shipping the surfaces partners and their agents actually use: verification APIs, MCP servers, credential flows, demos, and reference implementations. You'll sit in technical calls with partners, scope integrations on the spot, and own the last mile while working closely with core platform engineering.
Key responsibilities include shipping partner integrations from first technical call to production; building prototypes and demos for partner meetings, communities, and conferences on short notice; owning developer and agent-facing quality of APIs, documentation, sample repos, and integration guides; getting the MCP server listed and featured in agent builder directories; optimizing the agent-facing experience through tool descriptions and error handling; showing up in agent builder communities as a builder; translating partner constraints into specs for the core platform team; and feeding field learnings back into the product roadmap.
You need 5+ years shipping production software with strong TypeScript and/or Python; deep API design and integration experience (REST, webhooks, OAuth/JWT); direct customer or partner work experience; hands-on experience with the modern agent stack (MCP, LLM tool-calling, agent frameworks); ability to move from demo to working code in days and integrations to production in weeks; and comfort thriving in ambiguity with startup pace and end-to-end ownership. Preferred qualifications include prior MCP or agent framework experience, familiarity with verifiable credential standards (SD-JWT-VC, DIDs, HTTP message signatures), identity infrastructure knowledge, and payments domain experience.
