Valon is a Series C AI-native operating system company transforming regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing. The company operates its own mortgage servicing business managing $110+ billion in loans, achieving 60%+ margins while improving customer experience. As a Forward Deployed Data Analyst, you will own end-to-end data and analytics for Valon's SaaS customers. This is a full-stack role combining technical infrastructure work with direct customer engagement. You'll manage large-scale migrations of reporting infrastructure to Valon's Data Schema and API, working closely with client data teams as both a technical expert and mortgage servicing domain specialist. Key responsibilities include: collecting and documenting client requirements; establishing new data processes and tools; creating reporting pipelines in dbt; writing, rewriting, or migrating SQL queries, reports, and dashboards; conducting analysis to inform client business decisions; auditing and improving client datasets; responding to data requests; meeting tight project deadlines; and developing deep expertise in mortgage servicing operations. You'll need 2-4+ years of full-time data analytics, product analytics, business analytics, or business intelligence experience, ideally at a tech company (mortgage servicing experience is a plus). Expert SQL proficiency is required; Python is a plus. You should have hands-on experience with dbt, data visualization tools (Hex, Looker, PowerBI, Tableau, or equivalent), and working with data engineering teams to build infrastructure. Customer-facing experience and the ability to apply data concepts to business problems are essential. The role demands technical depth, analytical rigor, strong communication, positivity, and the ability to perform under pressure with high-stakes deadlines. Compensation: $160,000–$190,000 base (NYC), plus equity and performance bonus. Benefits include comprehensive medical/dental/vision, learning & development, equipment stipend ($200), generous PTO with uncapped sick days, and parental leave (3 months for birthing parents, 2 months for non-birthing parents, fully paid).
