Anduril Industries is seeking a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to join the Test and Evaluation Team supporting Group 5 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This role focuses on designing, implementing, and validating advanced instrumentation and telemetry systems for high-stakes flight test operations.
Key responsibilities include conducting requirements decomposition to select and install flight test instrumentation using digital tools; collaborating cross-functionally with discipline engineers, customers, and program management to inform safety and strategic decisions; leading technical investigations into instrumentation and RF telemetry issues; designing analytics-driven customer-facing products that showcase system performance metrics and trend analysis; designing, fabricating, and installing flight test instrumentation sensors and data paths into experimental aircraft using novel approaches; performing test instrument calibrations and pre-flight checks as an approving signatory for GO/NO-GO decisions; operating and maintaining telemetry auto-tracking ground systems; and traveling to test sites in California, Nevada, Texas, and Oregon up to 50% of the time.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field (or equivalent Radar Systems/Data Science experience with strong quantitative foundation); 5+ years of notable experience with embedded data acquisition systems in manned or unmanned aircraft; exceptional data visualization skills and proficiency with analytical tools (IADS, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Simulink); demonstrated expertise implementing high channel count mechanical measurement systems (100-400 measurands) and architecting RF telemetry for near real-time control room display; proven track record troubleshooting grounding, bonding, and shielding solutions for analog-to-digital instrumentation in multi-band RF environments; experience with composite and exotic material installations; strong commitment to applying data science to real-world problems; excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams; ability to work extended hours; travel capability; and ability to obtain U.S. Top Secret-Level security clearance.
