STOKE Space is building Nova, a fully reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight operations. As the first dedicated Flight Safety Analyst, you will own the development of simulation modeling capabilities to demonstrate that Nova launches, reenters, and lands both stages reliably while protecting public safety.
You will develop comprehensive models of vehicle functional failure modes and integrate them with the core Nova guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) simulation. This includes performing Monte Carlo simulations to determine statistical probabilities of trajectory outcomes following various vehicle failures, developing debris generation and propagation models for vehicle breakup scenarios, and calculating expected casualty estimates from malfunction scenarios given debris impact areas and population distributions.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Design Reliability and System Safety engineers to determine vehicle failure probabilities, ensuring expected casualties remain within acceptable limits, and communicating analysis results to external stakeholders including the FAA, Space Force, and launch service customers. You will produce analysis artifacts that tell the complete story of how Nova operations protect public and range safety.
This role requires exceptional command of flight dynamics fundamentals and statistics, familiarity with orbital mechanics and trajectory design, and hands-on experience with simulation and modeling of physical systems. You must be self-directed, able to move fast in an agile environment, and comfortable learning on the fly while maintaining focus on mission-critical safety analysis.
