Pennylane is a fast-growing fintech company building the leading financial operating system for SMEs and tax advisory firms across Europe. The company has raised €225M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and serves over 900,000 SMEs and 5,000 accounting firms, primarily in France with recent expansion into Germany.
You will serve as the voice of Pennylane's customers in Germany, responsible for their success with the platform. Your core responsibilities include:
**Customer Onboarding**: Lead comprehensive onboarding for new customers—both SMEs and tax advisory firms—ensuring they quickly realize maximum value from the Pennylane platform.
**Account Management**: Be the primary point of contact for existing customers, building trusted relationships, identifying upsell opportunities, and ensuring optimal platform utilization to support their business goals.
**Proactive Consulting**: Conduct regular health checks and business reviews to maximize customer satisfaction, retention, and prevent churn through strategic guidance.
**Internal Collaboration**: Work closely with the German sales team and management to optimize processes, provide product feedback, and contribute to Pennylane's strategic growth in Germany.
**Product Expertise**: Develop deep expertise in Germany's financial and accounting landscape, becoming a trusted advisor to customers on best practices and regulatory considerations.
**Required Background**: 2–5 years of professional experience in accounting, account management, or similar customer-facing roles, ideally in a tax advisory firm, SaaS, or fintech environment. Completed training as a tax assistant (Steuerfachangestellter), tax specialist (Steuerfachwirt), or tax advisor (Steuerberater), or relevant finance degree. Deep understanding of SME and tax advisor needs around accounting, invoicing, and financial management. Strong communication skills, empathy, and ability to explain complex topics simply. Proactive, solution-oriented mindset suited to early-stage team environments. Native or C2-level German and fluent English required. Willingness to travel approximately once monthly for customer onboarding and visits within Germany, plus occasional trips to Paris HQ.
