Salary: GBP 75,000 - 85,000 / annual
Adzuna is a profitable, established job search engine operating in 19 markets with over 10 million monthly visitors. The company is expanding its global footprint through strategic acquisitions (Seiza, Getwork, Joblift) and seeks an exceptional Financial Controller to oversee multi-entity finance operations across UK, US, French, German, and Australian entities.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own day-to-day accounting operations within a lean finance team and drive high-impact financial control across the global business. This is a hands-on role combining strategic oversight with operational execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Accounting & Consolidation: Lead month-end and year-end close processes, producing accurate consolidated group management accounts. Ensure strict compliance with accounting standards, maintain the group finance calendar, and refine financial controls as the business scales. Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the annual audit process and statutory accounts preparation. Partner with the CFO by providing consolidated figures and schedules to support executive decision-making.
Tax, Payroll & Compliance: Manage UK VAT reviews and declarations, French TVA, German sales tax, and coordinate US tax filings. Execute global transfer pricing agreements. Handle annual compliance reporting including UK/French R&D tax claims, PSAs, and P11Ds. Oversee payroll preparation and payment alongside external local payroll providers to ensure accurate global payroll execution. Administer employee benefits including pension feed uploads and HSA contributions. Support the CFO with data for EMI and US 409A valuations, maintain cap table records, and submit annual HMRC option filings. Handle company secretarial filings, share issuances, and global insurance renewals.
Team Management & Operations: Oversee day-to-day transactional accounting (AP, AR, GL maintenance), guiding and developing junior finance support. Drive group cash flow reporting, manage international cash balances, oversee month-end payment runs, and manage multi-currency banking relationships. Serve as the primary operational contact for international tax advisors and accounting firms. Act as the administrative owner for key finance systems (Xero, Stripe, PayPal).

Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with experience as a Senior Finance Manager or Financial Controller in a fast-paced tech, marketplace, or high-growth business
- Strong core accounting fundamentals with exposure to multi-entity environments
- Proven ability to take ownership of group consolidations and coordinate international payroll, tax, and compliance alongside local market specialists
- Experience supporting annual audits and working with external accounting, tax advisory, and banking partners
- Highly organized and proactive, with proven ability to stay ahead of deadlines
- Comfortable with Xero, Stripe, and PayPal
- Commercially minded with ability to work closely with the wider business
- Experience implementing or administering modern financial tools to automate workflows
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience in high-volume transactional environments (online marketplaces, e-commerce, SaaS, fintech)
- Experience working within multi-currency group structures and collaborating with outsourced overseas accounting partners
- Professional or conversational proficiency in French or German
