Ramp is hiring a Finance Storytelling Lead to embed with the finance team and create compelling narratives around how modern finance teams operate. You'll spend roughly half your time embedded with Ramp's Finance team, learning how an AI-native finance organization runs, and the other half supporting customer storytelling in partnership with Brand Communications, Sales, and Customer Marketing.
Your core responsibility is identifying and developing stories that resonate with finance leaders. You'll pull insights from planning meetings, closes, decisions, experiments, and customer conversations, then transform them into content across multiple formats—social posts, videos, earned media, executive bylines, and original research. You'll work closely with Ramp's proprietary spend dataset and economics team to uncover trends and patterns that support broader narratives about finance stack evolution and business spending.
Key responsibilities include: embedding with the Finance team to gain trust and visibility into actual operations; spending significant time writing first-person posts, points of view, and customer stories; creating original finance insights through research, surveys, and practitioner-led analysis; building a repeatable system for identifying ideas, capturing raw material, and shipping content; collaborating with data and economics teams on spend dataset trends; partnering with Customer Marketing and Sales to amplify customer stories; owning distribution strategy and audience planning for each piece; and setting editorial standards for finance content.
You'll need exceptional writing skills with the ability to clarify complex financial concepts without sacrificing clarity or interest. Strong reporting instincts and structural judgment are essential. You should understand finance deeply—ideally with experience covering or working closely with CFOs, accounting, FP&A, corporate finance, treasury, or payments. Data literacy is required; you should be comfortable using AI and trusted data sources to explore questions and develop sharp metrics. You must be able to write in someone else's voice while preserving their perspective and convictions. You're comfortable moving without a perfect brief, turning rough notes into polished work. You're AI-native but maintain independent judgment, using AI to reduce busywork and explore angles rather than offloading thinking. You must be based in New York City and committed to working closely with the team in person; relocation assistance is available.
