Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building advanced autonomous systems and AI-powered military capabilities. The Finance Director for the Fury program (an unmanned fighter jet) will own financial strategy, planning, and execution across R&D, flight test, production ramp, and fielded operations.
This is a senior finance leadership role embedded directly with the program team—not a back-office function. You will be a true partner to program managers, engineering leads, and business leadership, translating technical and schedule realities into financial plans that enable speed rather than constrain it. You'll make real-time trade-off decisions, shape proposals, and build financial infrastructure for a rapidly scaling program operating under significant internal and external scrutiny.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as senior financial leader for the Fury product and related programs, owning Estimate at Completion (EACs), funding profiles, revenue recognition, and margin management across all active contracts and internal investments
- Build and maintain program financial models accounting for fast-moving development timelines, production learning curves, and evolving customer requirements
- Partner with program managers on monthly and quarterly reviews, variance analysis, and risk/opportunity identification—owning the narrative behind the numbers
- Lead proposal pricing and cost volume development for new Fury contracts, including competitive bids, negotiations, and contract modifications
- Stand up and mature earned value management (EVM) processes appropriate for the program's scale and contract types, balancing rigor with Anduril's pace
- Coordinate with Corporate Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and Government Operations teams to ensure Fury's financials roll up cleanly and align with company-level objectives
- Recruit, develop, and lead a growing team of program finance analysts and cost estimators as the program scales
- Manage financial forecasting and budgeting processes; oversee business line, product, and program-level financial reporting
- Own financial oversight and management for a portfolio of large, complex, mission-critical programs
- Lead development of executive-level reporting and present financial insights to senior management
- Evaluate financial performance by comparing actual results with forecasts, highlighting trends and analyzing variances
- Work with senior leadership to identify and implement improvements to business performance and finance systems, tools, and processes
- Develop deep relationships with internal and external customers; oversee customer program reporting, invoicing, and monthly financial status reporting
- Own performance dashboards, alerting, and KPI health investigation
The Autonomous Airpower business line is building Fury, a high-performance, software-defined combat aircraft designed for scale production and operation in contested environments. This role puts you at the financial helm of one of the most consequential programs in modern defense, combining rapid hardware development, cutting-edge autonomy, and a production ramp that resembles a tech product launch more than traditional defense acquisition.
Note: Per Anduril's expansion plans, this role is currently based in Costa Mesa, CA but is anticipated to relocate to Long Beach, CA beginning late 2027.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or relevant professional certification (CPA, CFA) preferred
- 15+ years of finance experience working for Big Tech, Defense, Large Manufacturing, or Government contracting, with 3-5 years in a senior leadership position
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis tools
- Experience with financial reporting tools and ERP systems (Oracle Fusion, Oracle EPM, Anaplan, Foundry)
- Demonstrated track record of owning problems end-to-end in a finance function
- Intellectually curious with ability to understand the "why" behind numbers
- Highly technical with emphasis on precision and accuracy; ability to rapidly dissect complex quantitative problems
- Critical thinker who considers problems from all angles to remove bias
- Results-oriented; willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to drive consensus through grounded arguments, interpersonal skills, and negotiation
- Creative problem-solver able to identify obstacles and present viable solutions
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Excited by large breadth of problems
- Confidence to execute in highly visible and accountable positions
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be security clearance eligible
