Anduril Industries is seeking a Field Test Engineer to join the Maritime team's Dive-XL Field Operations group. This role focuses on testing and operating cutting-edge autonomous undersea vehicles (AUVs) in demanding field conditions.
Key responsibilities include preparing for field deployments by identifying and sourcing AUV test equipment, conducting daily inspections and system checks, coordinating AUV launch and recovery operations, and executing day-to-day test operations with detailed reporting. You will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrades of AUVs in the field using maintenance management systems. The role also involves supporting the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures and user documentation, assisting with risk assessments for test operations, and providing constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams on hardware, software, and user interface improvements.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams through integration, test, verification, and demonstration efforts. You must demonstrate the ability to master complex technical systems and support them in austere environments with self-sufficiency across hardware, software, and networking domains. Strong problem-solving skills in unstructured situations are essential, along with natural curiosity and independent learning ability. The role requires willingness to travel approximately 25%, including significant time offshore on vessels, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, daily in-office presence in Costa Mesa, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include a B.S. in Software Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field, proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams), and experience performing functional checkouts and diagnosing issues.
