Anysphere, maker of Cursor (an AI-native code editor), is hiring a Field Engineer to serve as the technical face of the product for federal civilian and defense agencies. You'll partner with prospective and strategic public sector customers to help them evaluate Cursor, run proofs of concept, and demonstrate the value of agentic coding in their real workflows.
In this role, you'll work hand-in-hand with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams as a deal partner—not a demo resource. You'll own technical discovery, scope solutions, and act as a trusted advisor across multiple stakeholder groups including engineering leaders, architects, developers, security teams, procurement, and program leads. You'll go deep into mission-critical and high-security environments, understanding complex developer workflows and constrained setups. Your goal is to help customers connect Cursor to outcomes that matter: developer productivity, secure software delivery, and mission velocity.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Account Executives on technical validation for new deals and expansion, building trusted relationships across engineering and security stakeholders, delivering technical presentations and workshops to both technical and executive audiences, and acting as the customer's technical advocate internally with Product and Engineering. You'll also partner with post-sales teams to ensure clean handoffs and successful onboarding.
You should have strong communication skills and executive presence, comfortable equally with developers and C-level executives. You understand the software development lifecycle and can connect technical details to mission and operational impact. You have hands-on technical fluency (not necessarily full-time engineering experience) with workflows, AI tooling, and complex environments. You possess deal-partner strategic instincts and can co-own with Account Executives while navigating complex, multi-threaded stakeholder maps. Prior experience in Field Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Pre-Sales, or Consulting—ideally in federal, defense, or highly regulated tech—is preferred. Holding or being able to obtain a federal security clearance is a plus.
