Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations dependent on physical operations to harness IoT data for actionable insights. The company serves industries representing over 40% of global GDP—agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing—helping them digitally transform at scale.
As an Enterprise Sales Engineer for the Public Sector team, you'll be a core member of Samsara's pre-sales organization, working alongside Enterprise Account Executives and Regional Sales Directors to penetrate and grow the company's footprint in North America's largest fleets and organizations with significant physical operations. You'll own the technical pre-sales cycle for the company's largest and most strategic prospective customers.
Samsara builds an extensive set of hardware devices—battery-powered wireless environmental sensors, Linux-based IoT gateways, and internet-connected dash cameras—alongside an intuitive dashboard and APIs for consuming sensor data. Your work will directly contribute to cleaner, more efficient supply chains by creating safer roadways, reducing fuel consumption and emissions, and providing a consolidated platform for connecting operations.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with sales executives to plan and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles; matching customer pain points to proposed solutions; establishing and maintaining customer relationships throughout and beyond the sales cycle; working across multiple levels of the technology stack; deploying and installing hardware for proofs of concept; setting up SaaS dashboards; managing custom reporting and integrations via APIs; mentoring other sales engineers; and providing strong team contributions through technical and industry knowledge.
You'll engage daily with customers on IoT applications for logistics management, workplace safety programs, fleet maintenance strategies, global asset management, and regulatory compliance. Success requires thorough understanding of IoT hardware and sensors, hands-on installation strategies, carrier network data collection, cloud infrastructure, and third-party system integrations.
This remote position is open to US-based candidates and requires frequent travel (50%), with proximity to a major airport highly preferred. You should have an innate curiosity about how businesses work, build genuine relationships with customers, thrive in a high-performance culture, and operate as a strong team player.
