As an Enterprise Sales Engineer at Datadog, you will be the technical bridge between the sales team and enterprise customers, providing deep technical expertise to qualify, evaluate, and close complex deals. You'll partner with the sales organization to articulate Datadog's observability and security platform value proposition, own technical engagement during customer trial phases, and deliver product demonstrations and technical briefings to potential clients.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with sales to communicate Datadog's vision and strategy; owning technical customer engagement during trials and addressing concerns; technically closing complex opportunities through competitive knowledge and credibility; delivering product and technical presentations; maintaining accurate CRM records of customer feedback; and proactively engaging with customers and internal teams on product feedback and competitive landscape.
You'll be passionate about educating customers on observability risks relevant to their business and building evaluation plans collaboratively. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential—you must articulate both business benefits and technical advantages. You'll have hands-on programming/scripting experience in languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.js, PHP, or .NET, with a minimum of 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role. The role requires regular travel to client sites (up to 45% of the time) within your region and beyond, using various transportation modes.
