As an Enterprise Sales Engineer at Datadog, you'll partner with Account Executives to help enterprise customers understand and adopt the Datadog observability and security platform. You'll own the technical strategy across the sales cycle, from prospect qualification through closed won, acting as a trusted advisor who bridges business goals with technical solutions.
Key responsibilities include leading customer discovery sessions to uncover technical challenges and business objectives, then translating those needs into tailored Datadog solutions. You'll deliver engaging product demos, technical presentations, and workshops that connect platform capabilities to customer outcomes. You'll project manage proof-of-concept evaluations end-to-end, including scoping use cases, defining success criteria, building project plans, and ensuring accountability throughout the process.
You'll identify and cultivate technical champions within customer accounts, empowering them to advocate for Datadog adoption and drive internal consensus. You'll participate in structured product and engineering feedback sessions, serving as the voice of the customer to help shape product direction. You'll maintain operational excellence by documenting activity, deal progress, and customer interactions in CRM systems, and collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Support, and GTM teams to address customer needs and resolve technical blockers.
You'll need 5+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or a technical customer-facing role in an enterprise environment. You should be skilled at navigating multi-stakeholder environments and adapting your communication style to technical, business, and executive audiences. A strong background in public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, APM/tracing, security, developer experience, and observability is essential. You'll demonstrate strong communication skills, a consultative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced environment. A growth mindset and willingness to travel as needed to support customer engagements are important.
