Bitwarden is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow the Web Platform team at its newly established India Engineering Center of Excellence. You will manage a team of experienced software engineers responsible for core web application tooling and client services supporting Bitwarden's web application, Electron-based desktop client, browser extension, CLI, and future products.
Key responsibilities include hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers; setting and reporting on measurable team goals; facilitating agile ceremonies (syncs, backlog refinement, retrospectives, sprint planning); monitoring in-flight work and proactively resolving blockers; owning escalation and triage for production issues and customer escalations; maintaining a healthy, sprint-ready backlog with prioritized bugs, tech debt, and features; serving as primary liaison between engineering and Design, Product, Architecture, and other teams; collaborating with stakeholders to synthesize requests into actionable work; identifying and solving process friction points; creating an inclusive, collaborative environment; conducting regular 1:1s and developing individualized performance and growth plans; and performing performance reviews.
You bring 10–12 years of experience leading engineering teams or complex cross-functional product engineering initiatives. You have proven experience in globally distributed environments, GCC, or Centers of Excellence, managing distributed or cross-regional teams across time zones. You demonstrate strong understanding of Agile practices, modern engineering, and product delivery lifecycles. You have a background in Engineering Management, Technical Program Management, Engineering Delivery, Product Operations, or similar leadership roles. You communicate effectively with engineering, product, design, and executive stakeholders; excel at problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making; and lead with a coaching-oriented style. You possess strong technical background in CI/CD, automation, and release engineering sufficient to engage credibly in technical discussions and step in hands-on when needed. You have experience managing or working closely with BRE, SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering teams. Formal management training or certifications and familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management platforms are preferred.
