GitLab is seeking a technical engineering manager to lead the Dedicated Integrations Team, responsible for building and operating large-scale distributed systems that power GitLab Dedicated—a single-tenant offering for security-conscious enterprise customers.
In this role, you will manage a high-performing engineering team while maintaining deep technical involvement. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead team execution with a focus on quality and speed in partnership with the product manager
• Ensure 99.9%+ availability of dedicated infrastructure while optimizing for security, scalability, and tenant density
• Foster a culture of operational excellence where toil is ruthlessly automated and DevOps ownership is enforced across the team
• Drive continuous improvement of platform artifacts toward self-service production ownership for feature teams
• Recruit, onboard, and develop excellent team members; manage performance and accountability
• Model incident management best practices, lead fast resolutions, and codify learnings across GitLab
• Use data-driven approaches to prioritization, impact quantification, and technical debt management
• Leverage AI tooling to demonstrate concepts, simplify processes, and translate technical complexity for stakeholder decisions
You will bring proven experience building and owning large-scale distributed services with deep technical expertise in architecture and strategy. You've driven operational excellence at four-nines SLOs and understand the discipline required to maintain them. You have hands-on experience using AI tooling to boost team productivity and a track record of building accountable, high-performing team cultures. You're comfortable driving complex projects to completion independently and have successfully led distributed, remote teams.
