Siena AI is an AI customer service automation platform for commerce brands, collapsing fragmented customer management tools into a single agentic system. The company is fully distributed, fast-moving, and scaling rapidly across multiple product initiatives (Shopping Agent, Social Agent, Voice, Order Protection).
You will own day-to-day engineering execution for the Channels and Analytics teams, reporting to the current Engineering Manager who is bottlenecked across too many domains. This role exists to unblock that leadership and allow them to focus on strategy, customers, and fundraising. You are not a coordinator—you run 1:1s, maintain cycle cadence, write technical debt plans alongside engineers, proactively unblock blockers, and act as a thought partner on operational decisions.
Delivery (~50%): Own the weekly cadence for Channels and Analytics. Work with PMs and engineering leadership to surface and sequence priorities, organize backlogs, and bring structure to a fast-moving, low-process environment. Unblock engineers before escalations happen. Identify constraints early. Write and maintain technical debt plans collaboratively. Act as a second thinker on integration strategy and capacity planning.
Developer Experience (~25%): Improve systems and processes that slow good engineers down. Bring structure where it adds speed; resist process for its own sake.
People Development (~25%): Run 1:1s that sharpen thinking, not just log status. Deliver hard feedback directly and effectively. Develop senior engineers with management ambitions. Partner on hiring: run loops, hold the bar, work with recruiting.
You bring 3+ years managing engineers in product delivery (owning outcomes, not just people). You're based in a European timezone (UTC to UTC+3) to be close to distributed engineers. You have startup/scale-up experience, technical credibility (senior engineers route hard problems to you), genuine AI/LLM fluency (agentic systems, evals, model reliability), and ideally experience with security/compliance work. You've worked in product companies without dedicated TPM or staff engineer support, and you can manage senior engineers as thought partners, not process subjects.
Success metrics: Day 30—two 1:1 cycles complete, you own Channels/Analytics cadence, leadership is informed but out of the loop, you've mapped the codebase and met integration owners. Day 60—one concrete unblock in Channels from your planning work, security compliance work is no longer single-threaded, you've attended customer meetings or shadowed deployments. Day 90—measurable delivery from your planning (not coding), engineers proactively bring you problems instead of escalating upward, your current Engineering Manager recovers ~1 day/week of overhead, and you operate as a unit with clear role separation.
